When visiting Mackinaw City we decided to visit the retired US Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw. We learned that the “Mighty Mac” was a beloved ice breaker on all of the Great Lakes. She was an essential part of the shipping system until her retirement in 2005. She has been re-commissioned for visitors to enjoy May-October.

Rachel thought the kids would be bored silly, that wasn’t the case at all. When we boarded the ship they were given a scavenger hunt and that kept their attention throughout our exploration. The kids had a great time exploring, the deck had some life jackets, hard hats and lights for them to play with. Leeann even worked on some toe touches while on deck, always dancing!
